MY APPROACH

The Simone Arora Experience

You know that feeling you get when you look through old photo albums? Everyone crowds around the coffee table, someone points to a cute little kid and says, "that's me! Look how adorable I was!" Someone else chimes in, "yea what happened?!" You flip through the pages and a picture of your late grandpa brings everyone to tears. You all start reminiscing about how funny he was but also how much of an asshole he could be. Your cousin's first car is in that album right before they totaled it, and mom's old hairdo makes everyone howl. "Hey! That was in style back then!"

Wedding photos are proof of life. Someone lived. Something happened. It was real.

No matter how many times you hear the word "timeless" when it comes to wedding photos, they're never actually timeless, are they? Hairstyles change, phones change, hell, wedding dresses and guest attire change every season.

I'm a trusted Michigan wedding photographer, here to capture time as it was when you experienced it. So that when you're older you can pull your photo album off the shelf, wipe off the dust, and share it with those around you. Proof of the person you were and life you lived. An album filled with photos of those you love around you having a grand old time. Personality-rich snapshots so people can point and say, "you still do that when you're drunk!"

Every photo will be teeming with life, taking you back to how you felt in that moment. And most importantly, I won't make you do weird shit like stand on a table at your reception or look in opposite directions for the ones who got away.

"I just had to come over here to thank you. The energy you brought to the day really helped shaped how we all experienced it. You kept us on schedule but still let us have our fun. I can't thank you enough and we're all so excited to see your photos!"

- mother of the bride

"You have a way with putting people at ease. [Couple] are usually really shy, but the way you worked with them was so impressive. You really got them to let their guard down and I can't wait to see those photos! Also, you were hilarious before the ceremony taking photos of people - I've never seen a photographer interact with people so easily."

My Style

I blend editorial with documentary - I call it... docutorial. I'm not sure if I made that up, but let's pretend I did.

There will be moments throughout the day where we may need to knock out some photos before guests start showing up ungodly early, or you want a little more direction. I'll be there to guide you in a way that feels natural.

The moments that develop spontaneously or deserve a candid approach will always remain sacred and untouched. I've been told I'm really good at disappearing (that would hurt my feelings in any other industry), and will capture the moment without interruption.

My Editing

emblem

I edit in a very true to color (true to life) style. I'm known for my glowy skin tones, bright colors, and slightly filmy edits. All galleries also come with black and white photos and a nostalgic filmy edit alongside my standard edits. I do not provide a duplicate color + black and white of the same photo. Black and white photos are an art in themselves and I do not just slap a preset on my photos.

Every single photo is hand-edited. I do not use AI to cull or edit photos, though I may use AI to edit out a distraction in "framer" photos. It's the only AI I use, and I always try to avoid it if possible.

My Clients

emblem

I'm a boutique studio and only take on a limited number of weddings a year in order to give each client my full attention. Your wedding is extremely important to me and I don't sacrifice anything to make sure I can show up and give you my all.

I do not use associates unless I absolutely have to. Once a date is booked, it's no longer available. I have a trusted network of photographers I use in case of emergency.

I work best with clients who just want to have a good time, are a little goofy (or a lot goofy), are maybe a little quirky, untraditional/non-traditional, and are willing to trust the process.

Please note that you do not have to be any of those things in order to work well with me! My friends tell me I could get along with a tree. I'm taking that as a compliment.

I travel locally around Michigan, domestically around the United States, and internationally around the world. I work with all faiths, cultures, orientations, disabilities, and walks of life.

It's no hidden fact that a lot of photographers' websites all sound the same - "Timeless, elegant, artistic" (sorry if that's anyone's slogan). It's difficult to choose which photographer is right for you when we all sound the same. So let me make it easy on you as to what sets me apart in a bulleted list.

  • Posing: I've studied posing with some of the world's top photographers. I consider it my strong suit. Shy, outgoing, curvy, thin, reluctant, I've got you covered. You'll never wonder what to do with your hands.

  • Experience: I've shot weddings for big name photographers and have shot in many different venues, weather, lighting situations, and family dynamics.

  • Dedication: I can't tell you how seriously I take weddings. I probably care more about your wedding photos than you do. I'm willing to go the extra mile and do almost anything to get the shot.

  • Energy: I'm absolutely known for my energy on wedding days. Whether that means a quiet, calm energy, an upbeat and fun one, disappearing onto the wall, or even getting your dance floor started - you can count on me to read the room and act accordingly.

  • Body Guard: Your wedding day is about YOU. Sometimes people around us forget that. I've had to stop aunt and grandmas from barreling through the door to see the bride when she really didn't want anyone to see her before the ceremony. I'm here to tell you it's ok to play two slow songs in a row to honor a lost parent. Screw everyone else. Bridesmaid being overbearing? Here's a task to keep her busy.

  • Sounding board: Need an opinion or insight from someone who has shot almost 100 weddings? I'm happy to share anything and everything with you openly and honestly.

Kind Words

NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY TO MY FACE

"I cried looking through these. These are the pictures our kids and grandkids will be looking at someday and I am just beyond thankful for you for capturing exactly who we are and the love we have. I look at these and feel like I'm still in those moments.

I love how fun and personable you were and how you took our sense of humor and ran with it. We couldn't have had more fun working with you."
