The Henry Ford in Dearborn Michigan is a highly unique wedding venue. As a Detroit Wedding Photographer, I was chuffed at the idea of getting to capture a wedding in such a historic venue. Before even making it to Lovett Hall, RaeAnne and Sebastian had little gifts ready for everyone they loved. RaeAnne had a beautiful matching ring made for her sister (who was also her maid of honor), and Sebastian had watches for his friends and best man (his brother). The two wanted a mix of documentary, candid, and editorial style photos, making for a fun day of shooting and gallery delivery!
A little rewind before we get to the rest of the wedding. RaeAnne and Sebastian connected with me in Seattle for their engagement photos a year before their wedding. I reestablished my love for photography when I was living in Seattle before the pandemic, so it was a dream being back where the mountains meet the sea. We spent time exploring around their apartment by the university before my husband, son, and I headed into the mountains for some beautiful views.
Ok fine, now back to the wedding day! RaeAnne and Sebastian were married on the first floor of Lovett Hall. Lovett Hall is just a short walk across the street from the main museum, which makes formal portraits easy to squeeze into the timeline. Their friend, Aaron, was the officiant (and also maybe comedian?!), and lead the guests into song during the ceremony. Cocktail hour was on the second floor, which spilled out onto the balcony overlooking the museum.
RaeAnne and Sebastian surprised their guests with a choreographed dance where RaeAnne was spun in the air multiple times. After dinner, RaeAnne and Sebastian weren't finished with their surprises. They did a t-shirt toss, getting their friends and family riled up and ready to dance. But the night of surprises wasn't quite finished yet. With one last surprise, Sebastian turned his head and met his wife's gaze. She had changed into a new dress and was ready to salsa and dance the night away.

Wow Factors
It's a historical, unique wedding venue that almost everyone knows.
So many places to take photos! The blue staircase, the grand hallway, the balcony, the red staircase.
Lots of free parking that's close to the hall

Things to Consider
Lovett Hall can be a little tricky to find, but all of the groundspeople are very helpful.
Both floors of the hall are very dark and the lights are very orange so your photographer should know how to use flash well
The museum is open to the public and can also host another wedding at the same time, so you may have to dodge people if you're taking photos in the museum space
