Detroit Wedding Florist Spotlight: Lotus.Current
Florists who can deliver on a vision are so difficult to come by. Kamala, owner of Lotus.Current, is a Detroit-based florist who does just that.
I met Kamala in a private South Asian women's group in early 2025. She was looking for a branding photographer and I figured it would be fun to connect with someone similar to me. We met for her session and I immediately knew she was a go-getter and someone who would be great with my clients. She's upbeat, listens, isn't afraid to pitch ideas, takes feedback well, and has boundless energy.
After talking for a bit about the wedding industry, Kamala and I decided to host an event for other wedding professionals. I gave her a vision: jungle vibes with an elevated twist. She absolutely delivered and made the experience effortless.
She brought in colorful cala lillies, marigolds, roses, and birds of paradise. As a surprise, she added artichokes to the floral arch installation and it was such a fun talking piece. She knows how to freshen up florals and make them feel modern with her artistic approach.
We partnered with Detroit Verde on the hardgood rentals for the event. Mariana and her team are fabulous to work with and her linens, chairs, lamps, draping, tablesettings, and couch perfectly complemented the florals. She has such a large variety of rentals to choose from, and she's continuously adding to what she offers.
Hiring vendors who take the time to understand your dream is such an important step in wedding planning. Working with vendors who know each other can take a lot of stress off of you, making your day stress-free and easy to manage since we can communicate without having to loop you in. I really enjoy working with Kamala and her elevated, inspired take on florals and can't recommend her enough to anyone looking for a florist who loves color just as much as I do!
